How many times have you heard that? As excerpted from a great article by Shane Kreider, you probably have heard that expression a lot. And guess what, “From a financial viewpoint, it means our money has to last ten years longer, but we also have ten extra years to make it. It also means we have ten extra years to apply our entrepreneurial skills to make us happy.”
According to Shane, “The expression also has a scientific explanation. It’s a different way of looking at age - it’s not how long you’ve lived, it’s how long you’ve got left. As our expected life span gets longer, ‘middle age’ happens later; some say we are therefore in the same cycle of life at 40 that our parents were in at 30. And as our life span is supposed to continue to increase, middle age is coming later and later. Expected life span is different from country to country but in Germany, for example, scientists say that by 2050, middle age (for Germans) will begin around age 52.”
And there is also a great way to look at this and that is about the attitude you have. Many of us refuse to buy into the idea of “getting older”. I personally feel the same way now as I did at 30. Maybe there are some bones cracking more often, but in my mind, I am 30. I have another 50 years at least, to learn, grow, prosper and excel in all my life areas.
So as Shane says, “If you get out of bed some mornings feeling old, remember this: scientifically speaking, you’re actually ten years younger. Then have a good day.”
Do you really care to forgive that person/loved one who ruined your life? You really should for your own health and happiness. And Dr. Frederic Luskin explains how to do it with his Nine Steps to Forgiveness:
Know exactly how you feel about what happened and be able to articulate what about the situation is not OK. Then, tell a trusted couple of people about your experience and feelings.
Make a commitment to yourself to do what you have to do to feel better. Forgiveness is for you and not for anyone else.
Forgiveness does not necessarily mean reconciliation with the person that hurt you, or condoning of their action. What you are after is to find peace. Forgiveness can be defined as the “peace and understanding that come from blaming that which has hurt you less, taking the life experience less personally, and changing your grievance story.”
Get the right perspective on what is happening. Recognize that your primary distress is coming from the hurt feelings, thoughts and physical upset you are suffering now, not what offended you or hurt you two minutes – or ten years – ago. Forgiveness helps to heal those hurt feelings.
At the moment you feel upset practice a simple stress management technique to soothe your body’s flight or fight response.
Give up expecting things from other people, or your life, that they do not choose to give you. Recognize the “unenforceable rules” you have for your health or how you or other people must behave. Remind yourself that you can hope for health, love, peace and prosperity and work hard to get them.
Put your energy into looking for another way to get your positive goals met than through the experience that has hurt you. Instead of mentally replaying your hurt seek out new ways to get what you want.
Remember that a life well lived is the best revenge. Instead of focusing on your wounded feelings, and thereby giving the person who caused you pain power over you, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you. Forgiveness is about personal power.
Amend your grievance story to remind you of the heroic choice to forgive and grow.
…but it is working for me and I’m having lots of fun with it!
It’s my new “TO DO” list which includes each of my 5 life areas for that day. I put my activities in the categories of FINANCIAL, CAREER, FAMILY/SOCIAL, HEALTH, and SPIRITUAL.
So often, when I focus too much in one area, I forget my other life areas and then I get out of balance with my life. Often, I leave SPIRITUAL out of the mix and then I wonder why I am so crazy at times. So now I make sure that I give even 15 minutes for down time – listening to music, meditating, or thinking about what I have to be grateful for. That often takes care of that life area for me. Maybe you will want to do more.
Now that we are in early August, why not try this simple strategy and create your own simple form? The more that you write down your activities, the more you will be inclined to complete them.
MASSIVE ABUNDANCE is about staying balanced, prosperous, and away from stress. If you include all the areas in the life on a daily basis, you will have it all!
The remaining 13% is due to diet, heredity, and the environment. Studies conclusively link more chronic diseases (also know as lifestyle diseases) to an epidemic of toxic emotions in our culture.”
This is a quote from Dr Caroline Leaf’s book,’ Who Switched Off My Brain?” Frightening, isn’t it? She talks about how toxic emotions can negatively affect the cells around our heart, which can lead to all kinds of heart diseases.
Richard Wiseman, another author, talks about how 90% of our luck is attributable to our thoughts. Once again, this is a big deal! If we haven’t been paying attention to what goes on in our mental world, then maybe we should start now.
I guess the best way to see what is going on in our thought life is too look at our outside world. What has our thinking created for us? Are you happy with the picture? If not, start to think differently. It only takes a second to see what you are thinking about. Why not carve out 20 seconds 5 to 6 times a day to stop and check out those thoughts? One of our clients started to do that and her world changed dramatically. She got a new job, found a new boyfriend, and is experiencing much more success in her world.
Final thought – When Jack Canfield, author of “Chicken Soup for the Soul,” was asked what it takes to be successful, he said this – “Let’s face it. We ultimately make our own luck. That’s all it really is.”
Let’s focus on our thinking and our luck and let’s move our life to even greater “massive abundance!” (And check out our free stuff on www.massiveabundanceinc.com).
If you don’t have enough cash coming in, then what are you doing about it? I don’t know if you believe in the Law of Cause and Effect, but that energy is there and the Universe will reward those out there to want it and claim to get it.
One of our clients, Michael, knew he needed to be more aggressive about making his financial life happen, but he didn’t think see himself as an assertive type. He did a lot of free talks, gave away his products, spent time with non prospects, and guess what? Money didn’t come in. His relatives came to visit and he felt he had to spend the little money had on them to keep them happy. Although they stayed at his San Francisco flat for 3 weeks, used his car, and never offered to buy groceries, he just didn’t feel he could ask them to help pay for things.
Now Michael was self-employed. He was behind on his bills, his credit card debt was over his limit and he was 2 months late on his mortgage. And still, he continued to give it away.
If you claim what is yours, then the Universe will help claim it for you. If not, then it will just pass it along to someone else who really wants it.
Sound airy fairy? Check it out and see if it is true. Look at who is making the money out there and see why that is. Ask yourself if you are really going after it. And if not, why not?
Get angry. You are entitled to all the abundance the Universe can give you. It is yours for the asking. Step up to the plate and take.
Step 6 – Do What Prospers You
(This concept was taken from our chapter, “Cultivate a Wealth Consciousness” from our superb book, MASSIVE ABUNDANCE. If you haven’t read it yet, you must! Go to www.massiveabundanceinc.com and order a copy now!)
What do a black president and a white motivational coach have in common? I was at the gym this morning and watching Mr. Obama give a speech on the economy when his teleprompter crashed to the floor. He was very cool and calm and just continued on with his address. And it dawned on me that Deborah and Barack are very similar in their PASSION for change. Barack’s passion is to change this country for the better and that comes our in all he does. And Deborah’s passion for changing the lives of people is so real and tangible; you can see it in her actions and conversations with our community members and clients. She really really wants to see others succeed and follow the principles of the 7 steps to Massive Abundance.
Another of her passions is her celebrity impersonations. Her portrayal of Martha Stewart is beyond compare. Companies fly her all over to attend trade shows and company events. She loves it, she embraces it and she puts her all into it. It is one of her passions which comes shining through when she speaks of it. Just like Mr. Obama and his passion for the U.S.
So FIND your passion, FEEL your passion and NEVER let that feeling die!
Oh, that’s right. He was telling the audience on TV yesterday how to DIVORCE YOUR FRIENDS! And how we have to watch out for those people in our lives who sap us of our energy and how we should only hang around 4 types of people. Remember that one? Those 4 types are: people we can learn from, people we can teach, people we can make money from, and people we can have fun with.
Sound harsh? Not really. Think about it. We are not here to save the world. We are here to become who we are created to be. By setting that example, we can help others more than by trying to carry them. After all…we know what happens when we carry others – they lose strength and then they can’t walk!

You can will your way to great SEX, great money, great glory and great love! Did you know that we all make affirmations in our mind all the time? Affirmations are nothing more than a declaration to yourself or to others about something in your life. Unfortunately, many times we are affirming something we don’t want (e.g., I am so fat, I am so depressed, I am not going to be successful, etc.). They can be very powerful because they are the harbinger of what is to come in your life. What will be in your life. What you are planning in your life. STOP the negative affirmations NOW!
Instead, make positive declarations now to yourself, positive affirmations about your life, your health, your relationships and your finances. I am writing down 5 to 7 affirmations each morning to help my get my morning and my life on the right track. What a wonderful way to begin each day with such reinforcements as “I am healthy beyond measure”, “I am excited about all the money coming to me this week”, “I am passionate about all the love coming to me”. Use these each day to attract the good into your life. You have heard of the “law attraction”; use affirmations to attract all the positive good you deserve for your life!
Diane, one of our coaching clients, was breaking up with her boyfriend, and because they were still living together for financial reasons, they were still involved with each other.
Diane had come to us because she knew we did a lot of work with the “law of attraction” and she wanted to focus on bringing in the “good” into her life. She was having a hard time because she resented the years she felt she had wasted with him and was just furious about it all.
We talked about how “massive abundance” and the “law of attraction” are about opening ourselves to the good that is trying to find us. And we agreed that one of the best ways to do that is to stay focused on what you want and how to, with as much love as possible, let go of the past.
Diane said that she and her friends were totally loving to each other, and that she really wanted a new and wonderful lover. But when we talked about David, her ex, she turned into a raging maniac. She described, with seething anger, how he had destroyed her life and that she simply could never forgive him. She wasn’t sleeping at nights since she was so stressed and she was losing her focus at work. She simply hated him!
When I asked her which she wanted more – goodness and joy, or anger and conflict? Of course, she said she wanted goodness and joy. She knew that MA (massive abundance) was totally about peace and happiness and that she really wanted it. Then I reminded her that it was almost impossible to attract the “good” when focusing on the “bad”. If the two of them could not live in harmony, then they needed to find a way to totally separate, as difficult as it might be.
In order to attract the “good” in your life, you must be willing to walk through the difficult times, trust that the “good” is truly trying to find you, and step into your massively abundant life!

… Then, why the heck am I still taking Prozac? Well, some people, like author Dr. Robert Maurer, claims that that stress just doesn’t exist. Dr. Maurer is an Associate Clinical Professor at the UCLA School of Medicine and he talks a lot about KAIZEN, a process of taking small, trivial steps over time to master a goal, a skill, or an attitude.
Now, its’ not that he doesn’t believe in setting huge goals like we do; it’s just that he believes that, in order to reach those goals, it is helpful to take small steps regularly in order to get there. You know. It’s like the tortoise and the hare – remember who won that won?
So when it comes to managing stress in these uncertain times, we need to do the responsible things that will keep us on track — plan ahead, do reality checks with others, talk with professionals (accountant, etc.) review budgets, etc. And to do those things, Dr. Maurer suggests that we take small, trivial steps to handle those activities.
This process also works very well. It is our thinking process that is so much the source of our anxiety. So instead of obsessing about how you’ll never get hired again because you are over 50, you might allow yourself to consider the idea that some one might actually hire you! You might start saying to yourself that “there is a job for everyone –even 50 year-olds.” And then do nothing about it for a few days except to repeat that statement a couple of times each day. Then, on the 4th day, allow yourself 10 minutes to look online at just 1 job site to see what is available. Then several days later, select 1 job and send in your resume. Or maybe pick up the phone and call someone you might be able to help you. Remember – change your thinking, change your life!
One of my friends, Melissa, was scared to death that she was going to lose her apartment because she was at the end of her savings. Because her anxiety was so high, she couldn’t concentrate and her ability to make good decisions was impossible. So she started to tell herself every day that “Everything was going to be OK.” She didn’t believe it at first, but after a while, she started to feel better. She noticed that she was sleeping better and that her neck pains were going away. The more she focused on how things were going to get better, the less she thought about being thrown out into the street. Eventually, she was able to start taking small, trivial steps to make positive changes in her life. She got some friends to help her, and she was able to manage her difficulties successfully.
So we need to ask ourselves to what extent are we creating our own stress? Are you a believer in “abundance” or in “scarcity”? Do you trust that the Universe is “safe and nurturing” or is it an “unsafe place to be”? Why not consider the more optimistic approach and allow yourself those small, trivial steps to help you change your life. Keep your vision massive and do something every day to help you get there. You will be amazed at your results!
Sex without passion is useless, many would say. What would you say? So why is work, play, family, money, etc., any different? Why are you not operating your life from a place of passion? With passion, everything is easy. Everything is exciting. Everything is fun. Albert Einstein said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge”. So the beginning of developing that passion is easy, free and fun……..it’s your imagination! Think about what would make you all excited in your life areas, would it be that car? Relationship? Job? Money? Travel? What would get you so darn excited in your life that you would stop at nothing to get there? This is the basis for Massive Abundance in your life. Passion. I find it interesting that a friend of mine who is a dancer told me that she has to dance or she would die. Now that’s pretty powerful, she would die if she didn’t work her passion. Think about that. And think about how we can help you with your passion. Because remember, the sex will never be the same!
Albert who you ask? Why Albert Einstein of course! It was Albert Einstein who once said that “Imagination is more important than knowledge”.
Now what does that mean to us? It means this - do not accept anything as fact in your outside world if it does not conform to the vision that you would like to see happen!
Setbacks, disappointments, distractions, failures - anything that appears as though your dreams are not going to come true- are only what they may be - setbacks, disappointments, etc. You can CHOOSE to refuse what you are seeing. Your senses aren’t what matter. What matters is what you are feeling and what your imagination is telling you. Stay with those feeling and your imagination because that is what comes from the DIVINE!

Want to lose 5 pounds in one week? Well, one of my friends has been trying to take off 5 pounds for over 3 years. She’s tried everything and nothing had worked.
Then one night, after her husband came home after late, she served him his dinner and as usual, he started complaining. He growled that the chicken was too dry, the rice was overcooked, and the vegetables didn’t go with the meal. Finally, she realized that she was under appreciated for this generous act. After all, he always came in late since he HAD to workout after his job. She realized that she was always eating after 10:00 PM to please him, and that maybe that was why she wasn’t losing weight.
The next morning she announced that she was taking a break from cooking his dinners doing the week and that he was on his own. She cooked her own meals, ate early and tried to diet again. Voila! Within a week,
